NBA: Are Challenge Flags tested in the Summer League?

The NBA is apparently considering testing further video reviews for referees in the upcoming Summer League. There is also speculation about NFL-style challenge flags.

This reports insider Justin dates of SiriusXM NBA Radio and refers to a conversation with league official Kiki Vadeweghe. Accordingly, such a system will be tested in the Summer League 2018 in Las Vegas, in which all 30 teams will participate.

The aim is to expand the review possibilities of the referees during the games. Which conditions must be fulfilled for such special reviews, however, has not yet been determined – nor is the question of what calls may be checked.

The use of challenge flags is by no means safe either. Such flags are used, for example, in the NFL, where the head coaches have the option of requesting the referees to check an action by throwing a flag.
