The US Open is the PDC’s second major tournament in 2018. Martin Kaymer was the only German to win the US Open. Otherwise, the tournament is regularly dominated by Americans. SPOX gives you all the important information about the tournament: when and where it takes place, what it means and where it can be seen on TV or live stream.
Last year, the American Brooks Koepka won. Record winners with four titles each are Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus from the USA and Willie Anderson from Scotland. Tiger Woods is the most successful golfer at the last 20 US Open with three wins.
The US Open takes place between Thursday, June 14 and Sunday, June 17. The venue is the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Tuckahoe, just a few kilometers from New York City. Unlike other major tournaments, the US Open is held in different venues each year. Tuckahoe is hosting the US Open for the fifth time in history.
All four tournament days can be seen on pay TV channel Sky. Sky Go also offers live streaming of the US Open.
The DAZN streaming service will also be present at the US Open on all four days. However, only highlights are shown at the “Netflix des Sports”. With analyses and current news DAZN nevertheless offers an extensive offer to the US Open. The subscription costs 9,99 Euro per month, whereby the first month is free.
The US Open is the second of four major golf tournaments a year after the US Masters. The Open Championship takes place in July and the Grand Slam tournaments come to an end in August with the PGA Championship. The US Open has been held since 1895 and is the second oldest tournament after the Open Championship.
The prize money is high. Last year, the winner Koepka received about two million US dollars. A total of twelve million dollars will be distributed to the participants.
In addition to professionals, amateurs of golf are also eligible to participate. There are a number of qualifying tournaments that give a starting place for the big tournament.
There are also some seeded players. These include the winners of the last ten years (including the German Martin Kaymer), the winners of the other major tournaments of the last five years, the top 30 on the USPGA Money List, and the American amateur champion.
