NBA: Dwight Howard probably traded to Brooklyn

The Charlotte Hornets appear to be trading Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets. In return, Timofey Mozgov and Picks are to go to North Carolina.

This is reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. According to this, the talks between the two franchises are in the final stages.

The Nets in Howard will have a contract that expires in 2019. He’s gonna make $23.8 million next season. In return, the Hornets accept the Treaty of Timofey Mozgov, which is still valid until 2020 and earns him around 16 million dollars annually.

The Nets are therefore saving this salary for 2019/20, which gives them room for maximum contracts. As compensation, the Hornets will receive two future second round picks (45th Pick 2018 and Second Rounder 2021) and cash.

The trade may be officially announced on July 6 when the moratorium is over.

For Dwight Howard, the Nets are the fourth team in four years and his sixth overall after the Magic, Lakers, Rockets, Hawks and Hornets. Last season he scored 16.6 points and 12.5 rebounds on average.
