MLB: Superstar celebrates anniversary despite injury

Superstar Mike Trout played his 1000th game in the MLB on Thursday. To his regret, however, the Center Fielder only acted as a designated hitter, as he was plagued by a finger injury.

“Obviously I’d rather play in Center Field,” Trout told reporters. “But it is what it is.” Trout has been working on a compression in his right index finger for a few days, which prevents him from throwing properly. According to his own information, he will be examined again “in a few days”.

Trout could not give an exact time for the injury, but he said: “It must have just happened over time. I don’t know when it happened exactly, but it’s pretty painful.”

Despite the pain, Trout played the Arizona Diamondbacks in Center Field on Monday and since it didn’t get any better, he started the following two games as DH. “They just told me not to throw for a few days, and then we’ll see. I’m trying to cool it down and make sure it gets better.

In his 1000th game in the Big Leagues, the six-time all-star in two At-Bats was without a hit at 8-5 over the Toronto Blue Jays, but scored two runs after three walks. On his anniversary he said: “1000 games definitely came faster than I had thought. I feel blessed to play in the Big Leagues. “I come to the ball park with pride and I take nothing for granted, because you never know what’s coming.”
