In the American League Championship Series, the Astros and Yankees fight for their place in the World Series. With Altuve and Judge, the two favourites for the MVP Award in the American League are also represented. They couldn’t be more different: While Rookie-Outfielder Judge beat most homeruns in the AL, the slender Second Baseman Altuve shone with a batting average of. 346 and a good defense.
Whoever wins the trophy for the most valuable player of the league will only decide after the playoffs.Altuve has already made his decision, however:”probably Judge, yes”, he said,”He has hit many homeruns and a lot of RBI (Runs Batted In), he has often come to base” His conclusion:”If I were a GM, I would want him in my team.I like his attitude, and he’s very modest.”
The over two-metre tall Judge had become a new superstar at MLB in his rookie season and had won the home run derby at the All-Star Game in Miami, among other things,”He is incredibly strong. All his homeruns, no one hits the ball in the Big Leauges any further than he does.He plays good defense. He’s done everything he can to make MVP the regular season.”
Altuve, who shone with eleven hits in the five Astros playoff games so far – the best record since Ichiro Suzuki in 2001 – immediately got back the praise:”What he showed tonight came to Base, a stolen base, great plays on the defensive – he just does everything”, Judge paid tribute to the competitor.
But he might not go as far as Altuve. He said,”In another life, I might want to be Aaron Judge and beat all those homeruns.”
