The NBA will continue to host the Africa Game in 2018. DeMar DeRozan and Joel Embiid are two all-stars. Here you can find out everything important about the event.
For the third time the NBA will host a friendly match in Africa. The Africa Game is part of “Basketball Without Borders”. In honor of Nelson Mandela, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2018, the proceeds will be donated to the Nelson Mandela Foundation this year.
As in the years before, the Africa Game in Johannesburg/South Africa is on the rise. It will take place on 4 August at 5 p.m. South African time, which corresponds to the Central European time zone.
The “Team Africa” will compete against the “Team World”. The African selection consists of NBA players from Africa or players with African roots. In 2017, for example, Dennis Schröder was part of the team, who has family roots in Gambia. Team World” consists of NBA players from all over the world – in 2017, for example, Dirk Nowitzki was there.
The DAZN streaming service will broadcast the game live. NBA fans are in good hands there anyway: In the regular season and playoffs one game is broadcast every day, from the conference finals even every game. An alternative is the NBA League Pass, where you can watch all matches live and on-demand without exception.
Team Africa” is led by Cameroonian Joel Embiid, the all-star of the Philadelphia 76ers. The star of “Team World” will be DeMar DeRozan, who was recently traded to the San Antonio Spurs.
*The squads aren’t complete. More players will be announced.
