NBA: Thomas wanted to go back to the Celtics this summer

Isaiah Thomas hired something surprising from the Denver Nuggets in the Free Agency. In an interview with ESPN man Adrian Wojnarowski, the Guard talked about the complicated hip injury, the 2016 playoffs and also about a possible comeback for the Boston Celtics.

“People got scared off my hip. I had to understand that this summer it wasn’t about money for me,” Thomas told Woj about his Free Agency and why he only signed for the minimum. According to the Guard, the nuggets’ offer was the only one he got.

For Thomas, however, this is an incentive enough to show that he can continue to be a good NBA player. “I have to show people that I can play again – and on a high level. I will.”

IT also looked back on his severe hip injury in the 2017 playoffs. Nevertheless, Thomas continued to play as long as he could, a mistake he now admitted: “If I hadn’t played in the playoffs, everything would have been okay. I would have been who I was before the injury. At the time, however, nobody could tell me not to play. Boston has also failed to do so.”

But Thomas continued to blame himself. He called it a bad “business decision” for the future, which was because he was living in the present. At the same time Thomas also suspected that the Celtics had traded him like that.

Now Thomas will have to prove himself as backup in Denver under his old coach from Sacramento times, Mike Malone. But before IT signed in Mile High City, the Guard called Celtics-GM Danny Ainge. “If the possibility is there, I just wanted to say that I would like to come back,” Thomas Ainge said via mobile phone. Ainge was open to this, but due to the unclear situation surrounding Restricted Free Agent Marcus Smart, he left this possibility.

So IT chose the nuggets and Thomas emphasized once again that there would be no bad blood against others in the league. “I don’t want to blame anyone, it’s okay where I am right now. I stay positive and try to control what I can control.”
