MLB: L.A.-Star back after heart problems

The Los Angeles Dodgers have their closer back. After doctors gave the green light, Team Kenley activated Jansen off the Disabled List on Monday.

Jansen had to stay the last eleven days because he suffered from atrial fibrillation in his heart. He had to undergo surgery for this condition six years ago. Jansen stated that he was no longer using blood thinners and had no restrictions.

“I can do what I want,” said Jansen and will immediately take up the closing role again. In his absence, the Dodgers lost six out of ten games. In eight of these games, the weak bull gave up or fell back after a tie in the last three innings.

“He’s excited,” said manager Dave Roberts about Jansen: “It feels like he’s able to pitch two innings tonight, so we need to calm his excitement a little. But it’s a great boost to our team.”

Things didn’t really get any better for the Dodgers with Jansen either. He pitched the ninth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals at 3-3 and promptly gave two home runs to Jedd Gyorko and Matt Carpenter, who sealed the 3-5 bust.

The Dodgers are now in third place in the National League West 2 1/2 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks. In the wildcard there are two games up to the Philadlephia Phillies.
