Terry Rozier represented the injured Celtics star Kyrie Irving in the Starting Five with strong performances in the past playoffs. Now Uncle Drew will return, but Rozier has no problem to get back in the second row.
“That’s not so important to me. I’ll just check what I can control,” said Rozier, referring to the backup role to ESPN. “We all have a goal and want to win. We all get respect and recognition when we win. That should be clear to everyone. It’ll be fun. If you want to win a title, you have to be able to make sacrifices.”
Rozier had averaged 16.5 points and 5.7 assists in the playoffs and made a name for himself as “Scary Terry”, especially at home games. The Celtics entered the seventh game of the Eastern Conference Finals, but lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, however, both Irving and the long-term injured Gordon Hayward are at their disposal again for the coming season.
“We can be something special,” Rozier said about the potential for the coming season. “Anyone can see that. We are obviously very good on paper, we just have to bring it together now and make sure that everyone pursues the same goal. Then it can be a great season.”
Boston is considered one of the top favourites in the East, especially after LeBron James moved to the Western Conference after eight consecutive finals. However, Rozier, like Jaylen Brown, did not want to predict that Boston would reach the finals, nor did he want to pay much attention to James’ move.
“I really don’t care,” Rozier said. “The league is watered down anyway, everybody’s doing some moves. I’m all about the Celtics. I don’t care about LeBron, the Lakers or the Cavaliers. We just need to focus on getting better.”
