After last year’s draw between Saul Alvarez and Gennadi Golowkin, the two world-class boxers will now fight back on Sunday night, 16 September (live on DAZN). SPOX gives you the most important information about the fight and the transmission in the livestream.
The rematch was supposed to take place on May 5th. However, as Alvarez was tested positive for Clenbuterol in two doping tests and received a six-month ban, the fight had to be postponed.
The rematch will take place on the night of Saturday, September 15th, on Sunday and is expected to start at 5am. The event will take place like the first duel in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
DAZN broadcasts the fight in Germany, Austria and Switzerland live. The streaming service will start broadcasting at 2am with the preliminaries.
The Netflix of sport costs 9.99 Euro per month. You can also complete a free trial month beforehand. DAZN will also broadcast many other boxing events such as the heavyweight match between Anthony Joshua and Alexander Powetkin on September 22nd.
Canelo is currently still WBO World Champion in the light middleweight, but now wants to attack again in the middleweight. There he was already WBC World Champion before he laid down his belt and Golowkin took the title without a fight. His only defeat to date was against Floyd Maywether Jr. in 2013.
For GGG, the duel against Canelo was the only one so far from which he did not emerge as the winner. The current world champion of the WBC, WBA and IBO now wants to eliminate this flaw by competing again against the Mexican.
In addition, a win over Alvarez could make him the sole record holder for defending middleweight titles. It would be his 18th successful defense of the belt.
