NBA: Media: Knicks will hand Noah in before Training Camp

The step has been expected for some time now, now it could go quickly: The New York Knicks apparently want to get rid of Joakim Noah before the start of the training camp. This is reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Knicks are still actively looking for a trade for the Frenchman, but if this is not successful, the option of stretch commission is still open. This was last used at Luol Deng (Lakers) and allows the selling team to extend the cap burden of the contract over several years.

In 2016, Noah signed a four-year contract for just under $73 million with the Knicks, who already regretted this deal in the first year. After a doping ban in the first season, the Frenchman only played seven games for the Knicks last season and is also said to have had a scuffle with former coach Jeff Hornacek.

Noah, 33, kept fit and hopes for a chance with another team as soon as the separation from the Knicks has taken place. The 2014 Defensive Player of the Year has played over 625 games, 8.9 points and 9.3 rebounds on average.

After the change of coach at the Knicks in the summer, there was a brief speculation that Noah would return to the Big Apple, but the new coach David Fizdale has no interest in it either. The Knicks will open their training camp on September 25th.
