NFL: Cowboys: Elliott allowed to play – for the time being

The Dallas Cowboys can at least plan again with Ezekiel Elliott for the time being.The Running Back was able to obtain a restitution of the preliminary injunction in court.

In the previous week, the Court of Appeal had decided to annul the injunction, with which the six-match suspension against Elliott had entered into force immediately on charges of domestic violence.It is now clear that the suspension was, for the time being, short in nature.

The court in New York reinstated the injunction originally obtained by Elliott on Tuesday, so that he can at least play for the time being.According to NFL network insider Ian Rapoport, however, there is now a window of opportunity: the restraining order is to be effective for either 14 days, or until the running back has had its next hearing in court.

That is how long Elliott will play in any case, while his lawyers can advocate a further delay of the lockout.A final judgement is not expected for the time being.

In September, a district court judge ruled that Elliott had not been granted a fair appeal hearing following appeals by Elliott and the NFLPA, after which Elliott was suspended.The cowboys had their Bye-Week last week, so Elliott hasn’t missed a game yet.

Elliott is said to have physically attacked his former girlfriend Tiffany Thompson several times in 2016, according to an NFL investigation.The League decided that he violated the NFL’s code of conduct and in August, Commissioner Roger Goodell blocked him for six games.
