NBA: Dubs lose to Phoenix – Kerr flies out

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr caused a humorous scandal in his team’s defeat against the Phoenix Suns and was expelled from the hall. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets are winning in overtime and both Victor Oladipo and the Washington Wizard stars are in good early form.

This is how the Hornets imagined the coming season. With their probable new starting lineup from Kemba Walker, Jeremy Lamb, Nicolas Batum, Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller the hosts showed a strong performance, especially in the time when the top performers were still on the court – Charlotte already led with 14 points during the break, only in the last quarter the bench of the Bulls crawled back in.

Walker was top scorer with 20 points, but also five other Hornets scored double digits, while Tony Parker was without points from the bench in 12 minutes, but still played 4 assists.

Of course the Bulls without Lauri Markkanen were also not the biggest indicator for Charlotte. Chicago, however, was able to enjoy a good performance from Zach LaVine, who sunk four out of six threes for his 26 points. Bobby Portis (17) was also in a good mood coming from the bank.

Victor Oladipo is already in the mood for the new season. The Pacers-Swingman, who was voted the Most Improved Player last year, continues to be in good shape in this preseason, playing against Cleveland in 28 minutes a good 23 points (6/10 FG), 6 rebounds and 3 assists. With this he led Indiana to a sovereign victory, although Thaddeus Young and Cory Joseph had lost two of the team’s pillars.

But not only Oladipo was in a good mood. Domantas Sabonis delivered a good double from the bench (16 points, 12 rebounds) and also Edmond Sumner (14 points) and newcomer Tyreke Evans (14, 6 assists) provided good support as substitute. T.J. Leaf, who represented Young in the Starting Five, scored 13.

The Cavs were missing Kevin Love as well as Channing Frye, Jordan Clarkson, David Nwaba and Rodney Hood. In the absence of these supports, Oldie Kyle Korver went from bench to top scorer with 17 points, while top rookie Collin Sexton caught a used day (3 points, 1/7 FG, 3 assists and 3 turnovers).

Also in the preseason there are sometimes overtime hours. And in this case it was quite worth seeing thanks to D’Angelo Russell: The Point Guard scored the last 5 points of his team in the regular season, worth seeing especially a pull-up-three 11.4 seconds before the end, which brought Brooklyn into the lead with 2 points. Reggie Bullock, on the other hand, had the answer again and so the decision was made in extra time.

Here the Nets were able to assert themselves mainly thanks to Caris LeVert, who first scored a threesome and then prepared further buckets from Jared Dudley and Jarrett Allen. Andre Drummond braced himself against it, but in the last 2:08 minutes there was no throw at all. So the Nets were able to drive home with a narrow victory.

The top scorer was Russell with 25 points, while LeVert (17, 9 rebounds and 8 assists) scratched the triple double and Allen also scored 17 points. On the other side, Langston Galloway was the best scorer with 24 points, Blake Griffin came on 17 points and Drummond delivered 14 garnished with 10 rebounds. There was a drop of bitterness for Brooklyn; Allen Crabbe already injured her ankle after three minutes, but the first X-ray examination showed no serious damage.
