NBA: Westbrook comeback already on Sunday?

Russell Westbrook missed the Oklahoma City Thunder’s first two games of the season due to a knee operation this summer. Now the Point Guard is obviously aiming for a comeback in the night from Sunday to Monday against the Sacramento Kings.

As Royce Young of ESPN reports, the 29-year-old completed an intense workout before the game against the Clippers on Friday, during which he impressively demonstrated his fitness with several cracking Tomahawk dunks.

However, Westbrook and the Thunder medical team decided that the Point Guard will be on a break in the away game against LAC. Now he could make his comeback against the Kings.

“He must feel good, because we don’t want any more problems to echo,” Thunder coach Billy Donovan emphasized, “It’s all about him talking to the medical team and giving feedback. He knows his body better than anyone.”

Westbrook had undergone an athroscopic operation on his right knee in mid-September, but was not fit in time for the start of the season. The first two games of the new season were lost for the Thunder.

Westbrook was replaced by Dennis Schröder in the Starting Five, but the German showed light and shadow against the Warriors and Clippers. In both games Schröder scored an average of 14.5 points, but only 26.5 percent of his field casting attempts were successful.
