Carmelo Anthony opens his season on Friday night with the Oklahoma City Thunder – his former team, the New York Knicks, will be his opponent (2:00 a. m. live on DAZN).In the run-up to the event, the ten-time all-star has talked about saying goodbye.

Anthony was traded from the Knicks to Oklahoma City this summer, after long rumours had been heard.The relationship with former Knicks President Phil Jackson in particular had been damaged for a long time.

Without his no-trade clause, Anthony would have been traded much sooner, as he now confirmed:”Certainly.If it hadn’t been for this clause, I would have ended up in God knows because Phil simply wanted to get rid of me,” Jackson’s successor Scott Perry, on the other hand, he respects because he was very honest with him, Anthony said.

I always thought:”I trust Phil, I trust Phil,”the 33-year-old looked back on Wednesday,”that changed after a while.I did everything I could, and I still got stabbed in the back.I don’t trust that anymore.”

He is looking forward to seeing the ex-team again:”It is an important game for me because I have the opportunity to finish this chapter.I do not think that has happened yet.I think that won’t happen till tomorrow when I go in the court with another Jersey.”

Anthony played in New York for six and a half years after being traded into the Big Apple by the Nuggets in 2011.On the 25th.On September 9th, he was hauled to Oklahoma City for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a 2018 second round pick.
