NBA: Strong bonga cannot prevent bankruptcy

For the third time, Isaac Bonga was on Saturday night with the South Bay Lakers in the G-League. The team lost for the third time – but the German rookie showed a good performance.

In the duel against the Oklahoma City Blue Bonga and Co. conceded their third defeat in the third game, lost away with 99:103. Bonga had the chance to bring his team on the winning road 34.2 seconds before the end by a three-way tie, but he missed and could not crown his good performance with it. Instead, top scorer Scotty Hopson (27 points) brought home the victory for OKC.

Bonga, who fouled out in the last seconds to stop the clock, nevertheless showed an appealing performance: After Johnathan Williams (21 points) he was the top scorer of the Lakers in 27 minutes with 18 points and good efficiency (7/10 FG, 2/4 3FG) as well as 6 rebounds and 2 assists (2 ball losses).

Especially in the third quarter the No.38-Pick turned up with 9 points and brought South Bay in the meantime with 13 points in a row. But it shouldn’t be enough.

Bonga, who became 19 on 8 November, has averaged exactly 18 points for the Lakers so far. The next game of the South Bay Lakers takes place in the night on Tuesday against the Iowa Wolves.
