NBA: Pelicans again unlucky to suffer injury

Elfrid Payton broke his little finger on his left hand when the New Orleans Pelicans won their home game against the Knicks on Friday. The Point Guard of the Pels will probably be missing for some weeks.

As the franchise announced after the game, Payton will seek the advice of a hand surgeon next week. Meanwhile, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports that the 24-year-old will undergo surgery.

An exact prognosis of how long Payton will be missing from his team will only be available after the operation. However, it is considered likely that he will be absent for several weeks. The Point Guard has already missed nine games in the current season due to problems with their right ankle.

Accordingly, Payton, who signed a one-year contract in New Orleans last summer, averaged 9.7 points, 5.3 assists and 5.2 rebounds in six games.
