Dennis Schröder was badly defeated by his Atlanta Hawks at the Brooklyn Nets in the fourth quarter and had to leave the field. The German, however, gave an all-clear after the game. The point guard will still have to suspend the upcoming game against Miami Heat.
“They examined me and found nothing serious,”Schröder reported after the match. Accordingly, it is merely a bone bruise in the ankle. My plan is that I’ll be back in Chicago on Thursday,”he says,” but the Guard will probably miss the next game against Miami Heat. I don’t know if it’s enough, but I don’t know,”the German explained to the Atlanta Journal constitution:”Now the team is supposed to win in Miami and then we’re going to look further every day.”
Schröder was injured at the Nets barely four minutes before the end when he made contact with Caris LaVert on a drive to the basket, but unfortunately landed on Caris LaVert’s foot. I wanted to get the contact and the foul,”explained the international player,” I wanted to get rid of the ball and jump up with my left foot. Then I snapped. That’s what happens in basketball.”
But the injury was not the only bad news. The game was also lost.”It’s hard. We were 14 points down and came back again. The bankers did a great job. Schröder fought in his 31 minutes with his throw. For his 17 points he needed 22 throws, but played 8 assists.
In Schröder’s absence, responsibility rests with backup Malcolm Delaney, who said after the game that he was ready for this task. Coach Mike Budenholzer also confirmed,”Malcolm is likely to start. We’ll see how Dennis’ ankle heals and then make a plan.”
Atlanta’s next game is already scheduled for Tuesday night. Then the Hawks will be guests at the Miami Heat in their fourth away game in a row. After another guest appearance in Chicago, the first home game of the season will finally be on Saturday night, when the Denver Nuggets will be coming to Georgia. Schröder wants to be back on the field by then at the latest.
