In the midday game, the Memphis Grizzlies met Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. In a game that was open until the last minute, however, the Clippers never really could be dangerous for the guests and had to say goodbye to the home crowd with a defeat. Later on, it will be the turn of the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors.
Clipper’s coach Austin Rivers wished for “No two lunches in a row in LA”. But that’s exactly what the team is facing. In the first game at noon – the second game on Sunday against Miami Heat in the live stream on SPOX – unstructured playing Clippers did not do much against Memphis. Many failed single actions cost the team of Griffin and Co. the victory.
Although the game seemed to be open until the last minute of the game, the clippers couldn’t get close to the grizzlies. As soon as the gap shrank, Memphis always had the right answer and extended the lead. Especially the strongest bank of grizzlies, of which Brandon Wright (13 points, 4/7 FG), Chandler Parsons (10 points, 4/7 FG), Mario Chalmers (12 points, 5/9 FG) and Tyreke Evans (20 points, 6/13 FG) scored four double-digit points, made the difference in the Staple Center.
In addition, there were 21 points (7/15 FG) from Marc Gasol and 22 points from Mike Conley (8/18 FG), who was able to recall his performance for the first time after problems with the Achilles tendon. James Ennis’ important threesomes (3/4) made the victory perfect. On the other hand, the 30 points and 11 rebounds of Blake Griffin (10/17 FG) didn’t help the Clippers to become dangerous. Too often the team from LA took difficult throws after a few seconds and often put themselves in the offense.

The rate behind the Clippers’ three-line line (15.4 percent) did not make the game any easier for LAC, and the bank was also not in top shape. Only Lou Williams scored double-digit from the bank (13 points, 4/12 FG), but he didn’t have much (1/5) to think of from the outside either. Patrick Beverley, however, could not help to win with his season’s high of 23 points.
