NFL: No major damage to Sam Bradfords knee

Quarterback Sam Bradford of the Minnesota Vikings has undergone arthroscopy on his damaged knee to clean the joint. The attending physician, Dr. James Andrews, found no major damage during the procedure.

Bradford returned from Birmingham/Alabama on Tuesday and is now waiting for the team to put him on the Injured Reserve List when Teddy Bridgewater activates him on Wednesday.

Andrews removed loose particles from the knee, smoothed out cartilage and cleansed bone spores. The doctor explained to the team that he hoped that this surgery would alleviate the predominant pain in the knee of the quarterback. However, he made no guarantees about Bradford’s health, as ESPN reports.

Previously, team physicians had found the knee joint to be structurally stable. Andrews confirmed the assessment after he had already repaired two cruciate ligament tears at Bradford in 2013 and 2014.
