NFL: Broncos fire offensive coordinator

There had been rumours about Mike McCoy’s future before Sunday – the bankruptcy of the Cincinnati Bengals was apparently the proverbial drop that blew the barrel, and according to consistent reports the Denver Broncos have dismissed their offensive coordinator.

This is reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Bill Musgrave, previously the quarterback coach of the Broncos, was promoted to offensive coordinator.

The Broncos had lost their sixth consecutive game against Cincinnati on Sunday. In seven of the last eight games Denvers Offense stayed below 20 points.

While play calling has been frustrating in Mile High for a few weeks now, the task for Musgrave is anything but easy. The big problem of the Broncos is and remains the quarterback position, where after the complete break-in of Trevor Siemian behind a shaky line Brock Osweiler is allowed to try again.

It can be assumed that Osweiler will be replaced by Paxton Lynch during the course of the season. The pressure on the former first-round pick is already noticeably increasing.
