James Harden fights the Knicks fire and leads the Rockets to a comeback victory – despite 22 points behind. The Warriors are also victorious, while the Hawks go down against Toronto. The Sixers shoot Orlando out of the hall, Boston beats the Pacers and the Trail Blazers win a true detective story in Washington.
Just 24 hours after the narrow defeat at the Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte’s duel with the Spurs was now over. Surely there are nicer tasks for a back-to-back, the Hornets will be able to confirm this at the latest after the 20-point gossip against San Antonio.
The hosts pocketed just 36.9 percent of their throws, and from downtown it was only a meagre 16 percent (4/25 threesomes). That alone explains why the Hornets are so unlucky this evening. Kemba Walker was with 18 points and 5 assists still the best man with Charlotte, but he couldn’t change the defeat again.
“This was a very hard trip for the Hornets,”said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich,”which is almost unfair. If you come back so late from Cleveland and then at 7 p. m. it’s Tip-Off again, it’s really very difficult” The Spurs used this again skillfully for their own purposes. Led by LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol with 17 points each, San Antonio held his opponent at 29 points in the first half. In the further course of the game the Spurs did not burn anything more.
Even without Ben Simmons, who had problems with the elbow, Philadelphia secured their fifth win from the past six games. They had one man to thank for that: J. J. Redick. The sniper lived up to his reputation and hammered 8 threesomes (at 12 attempts) through the Reuse. Redick scored a total of 29 points and led the Sixers to success.
“Every time J. J. j. you give him the ball,”was the simple motto of replacement point-guard T. J. McConnell, who with 15 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds also played a strong game, said McConnell:”He is the dream of every point guard”, McConnell said about his colleague:”He’s the best shooter I’ve ever played with”.

Redick apparently wanted to prove the latter again shortly before the half-time break. With 4 threesomes in the last three minutes of the first half, the Shooting Guard made sure that the sixers were able to settle down on their own at the break (70:55). Dario Saric added 21 points, Joel Embiid scored 18 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists.
That was too much for the Magic, who had enormous problems with the fast pace of the Sixers. Elfrid Payton delivered the most resistance with 22 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds. Aaron Gordon got 16 points and 9 rebounds. However, this did not change anything about the now eighth defeat in a row.
Although the Wizards had to forego John Wall, who was injured at the knee, it looked like a sure win for them for a long time. In the middle of the fourth quarter Washington was even in front with 17 points – but then C. J. came in. McCollum. The 26-year-old turned up the heat in the final phase.
Portland started a 20:7-run and got himself in striking distance again. Nevertheless, thanks to the strong Bradley Beal (26 points, 7 assists) and Otto Porter Jr. (24 points, 10 rebounds) the Wizards still had a 7-point advantage on the credit side, one and a half minutes before the end.
But then came McCollum, who made the decisive 10:0 run to the end of the game possible with 7 consecutive points. The Shooting Guard scored 26 points in total, Damian Lillard scored 29 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Jusuf Nurkic also contributed 17 points and 5 rebounds. The man of the evening, however, was undoubtedly McCollum.
“When he sees the ball go in and he moves well, he hits everything,”said Lillard after the match over his backcourt colleague,”there are no bad throws for him at the time,” and the same goes for Beal. In Wall’s absence, the 24-year-old took the burden of the wizards on his shoulders. However, Beal left a good chance for the lead a few seconds before the end. The final three-way attempt to equalise also landed only on the ring.
