Kevin Durant’s Twitter affair marked the media day of the Golden State Warriors. While coach Steve Kerr and GM Bob Myers want to get rid of the issue as soon as possible, Draymond Green makes fun at the expense of his team mate. The Oklahoma City Thunder also comment on the criticism of their ex-player.
“I think he’s handled it well,”Myers said:”We all say things sometimes that we’d rather not have said. The General Manager praised Durant for his public apology,” I like to apologize directly to people, and that’s what he did. Then you leave it behind and learn from it.”
Kevin Durant – probably by mistake with his official instead of a fake account – had been sharply criticizing his former Oklahoma City teammates and coach Billy Donovan via Twitter.Afterwards, the forward had admitted to having “gone too far”.
For his current coach Steve Kerr, the affair is no problem:”It’s no big deal,”says Kerr:”It’s nothing to worry about” The 51-year-old has an understanding for the situation of his protégé:”It’s never been so difficult to be a professional athlete and always in the spotlight of the social media. For players, this is a difficult situation. He knows he made a mistake.”
Draymond Green even had fun with the whole thing:”The day after I saw him and laughed in his face,”says the Warriors’ Big Man:”I thought it was funny. But it was clear that he felt sorry for it.”
Neither I nor anyone else in Thunder has anything negative to say about Kevin Durant,”said the general manager of Oklahoma City Thunder:” We have tremendous respect for what he, his team-mates and coaches have done during his time with the Thunder. That’s all there is to it.”
Kevin Durant also wants to leave the topic behind:”That’s behind me now. It’s over and now I’m looking forward to the start of the training camp.”
