NFL: Brady comments on Eli:”Unhappy”

After the controversial Benching by Eli Manning, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has now also commented on the situation. The long-standing rival calls the New York Giants’ decision “unhappy”.

“I have the greatest respect for his career,”Brady told Westwood One Sports Radio in an interview,”With his reliability, consistency and rigour, he has brought everything you could wish for in a player. He’s always delivered it to this team (Giants), so I think it’s a very unfortunate situation.”

The Giants announced on Tuesday that Manning will no longer be a starter for the rest of the season. Instead, Geno Smith and Davis Webb will receive playtime. Coach Ben McAdoo described the decision as “emotional”, but as “the best for the future of the franchise”.

“I don’t think there are many happy endings in sports. When I think of players like Joe Montana, Jerry Rice or Ronnie Lott, whom I adored as a child and who ended their careers in unusual jersey colours, Brady continued:”As a fan you always wish for an end like in the fairy tale book. But Michael Jordan also played for the Washington Wizards and who would have believed it? It’s just the professional sport.”

For Eli, a series of 210 games will end in series. Manning’s career ending in New York seems unlikely for the five-time Super Bowl winner.
