MLB: Arizona Diamondbacks trades for Brad Boxberger

The Arizona Diamondbacks have secured the services of Brad Boxberger. The relief comes from the Tampa Bay Rays via trade. In return, the Snakes send Minor League pitcher Curtis Taylor to Florida.

Boxberger was an all-star in 2015 and led the American League with 41 saves. However, he was a candidate this winter not to receive a new contract. The deadline for players admitted to salary arbitration is Friday at 11 p. m. CET.

In the last two seasons, Boxberger has been plagued by numerous injuries, which have significantly reduced his playing time. However, the 29-year-old is said to be completely healthy again by now, as Agent Scott Boras recently told us.

In 2017, he had only 29 1/3 innings with an injury to the right flexor in a 3.38 ERA. He collected 40 strikeouts and distributed 11 walks. In total he is 17-20 with a 3.19 ERA and 44 Saves over 231 MLB innings.

Taylor, on the other hand, is also a right-hander and made 13 starts (62 1/3 IP) for Single-A Kane County in the Midwest League in 2017. He was 3-4 with a 3.32 ERA, 68 strikeouts and 23 walks. It was stopped by an injury to the shoulder, but should be operational again by 2018.
