NFL: Wilson!

Seattle Seahawks 8-4 win in an outstanding football game with two special quarterbacks. The 24:10 win over the Philadelphia Eagles 10-2 once again saw Russell Wilson shine and added another great game to his strong season. The Eagles will mourn a cautious start and several missed opportunities.

After the injuries of Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, the question marks whether one of the best defenders in the league was great. But for a long time there were no tasks in the game for Byron Maxwell, Shaquill Griffin and Co. On the one hand, the Eagles had problems with the aggressive defensive front and on the other hand, they took almost no risks at all. The result was 45 Passing Yards for Carson Wentz in the first half.

On the other hand, Russell Wilson (20/31,227 YDS, 3TD) wanted to continue working on his sensational season and, thanks to very effective preparation, was successful. Seattle played smart football at an early age and recognised its potential. Third-and-long situations were common, but here one had answers to keep oneself in front over long distances.

The second round seemed to start with a different dynamic. Philly played more aggressively and Wentz now dared to throw down the field. But when they had the chance to equalize, Wentz fumbled on the 1-yard line and the Seahawks could take over with a touchback. In the following drive, the Seahawks stuck their finger directly into the wound and converted big plays to a touchdown drive.

Wentz (29/45,348 YDS, TD, INT) and Philly were once again within striking distance, but did not manage to finish Plays in the decisive moments. Too many inaccuracies and drops took away their opportunities. Wilson on the other hand created possibilities that weren’t there. An outstanding game on its part and one or the other happy call brings the Seahawks temporarily to a playoff place.

Seattle Seahawks (8-4) – Philadelphia Eagles (12-2)24:10 (10:0,0:3,0:7,7:7) BOXSCORE

11 plays, 74 yards. The drive of the Eagles, with which they started into the second half, was impressive and completely opposite to what they had shown in the first 30 minutes. The Eagles had the opportunity to equalize the game with one stroke and forget all the previous ones. Wentz decided to carry the ball into the final zone of 2nd and Goal, but was stopped by Sheldon Richardson on the 1-yard line. He lost the ball, which rolled over the end zone and the Seahawks took over by touchback. Seattle’s answer was a tough one. The Seahawks scanned directly and built up a comfortable head start, which should only put the Eagles under even more pressure.

Like a boxing match between two heavyweights, this duel was anticipated and exactly the same thing happened. The battle for the Line of Scrimmage was incredibly intense in a very physical match. Without much success with the pass, it was of enormous importance for Philly to get the game on the ground and his running backs into play. The seahawks did a good job on the second level to detect holes and avoid large plays.

Hoodini has once again delivered a show, which could be seen. Wilson started the game very well and carried out the game plan with great accuracy. But the spectacle didn’t really start until the second round. Here number three was forced to reschedule. Wilson often had to dodge the side under great pressure and once again kept deadly Plays alive. The second round was a spectacle of both quarterbacks, but Wilson was the one who didn’t make the crucial mistake.

An ineffective run game and missed chances stood in the way of the Eagles. One of the two problem areas was Ajayi. The former Dolphin ran for 3.9 yards per attempt, but was too rarely able to break tackles in his 9 carries. Ajayi also gave himself a bitter drop on 4th Down, when he not only had the opportunity to keep the drive going, but also had a lot of free green ahead of him.
