The Miami Marlins traded Second Baseman Dee Gordon with the Seattle Mariners. Along with this, the Mariners also receive additional bonus money for international amateur players.
The Miami Marlins are serious about reducing their payroll. The first “victim” of these measures is Gordon, who will earn 10.8 million dollars next year. In addition, the Mariners will receive one million extra cash for their international bonus pool after being among the finalists for the services of Japan’s Superstar Shohei Ohtani.

The 29-year-old played in Miami for three years and won the batting title in 2015 with a. 333 average. He was twice All-Star, beating 2017.308 with 60 stolen bases and 114 runs. He was also third in the National League with 201 hits.
The Mariners will fully take over Gordon’s contract and pay the outstanding $37 million in salary by 2020. In addition, the contract includes a team option of $14 million in 2021 – if the option is not drawn, Gordon will receive a buyout of $1 million.
Meanwhile, the Marlins will receive Minor League players Robert Dugger, Nick Neidert and Christopher Torres in Trade.
