LeBron James is currently in great shape and, together with James Harden, is considered one of the two top favourites for the MVP Award. On Saturday, the four-time prizewinner spoke about the significance of such an award.
James, who turns 33 in two weeks, won his last MVP-Award in 2013, but with currently 28.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 9.1 assists as well as the best ratings of his career, it could be that time again this year. Before the 109:100 victory of his Cavs against Utah he now admitted that number five would probably mean more than the previous awards.
“Team success always comes first, but if you can win a few individual awards on your way there, that would mean a lot,”said James.”I feel good. I’m in my 15th grade. I’ve rarely felt this good, and I want to continue. I want to refute the prejudice that when you turn 31, your 12th birthday is over. or whatever the season is behind.”
He also has other players in mind:”It’s also about the next generation. I want to refute the prejudice so that even the next guy as a 33-year-old can sign for 200 or 300 million dollars. You laugh, but I’m serious. It’s also about the next crew. I’ll be 33 in a few days, but I’ve never felt better.”
Against Utah James passed with the 60th place. Triple-Double of his career Larry Bird and is now alone in 6th place all-time. James said:”It’s not about passing someone, it’s about being called in one sentence with them,”James says,”I’m studying the story of the game. I know who set the standards and I know who paved the way for me. That’s why it’s such an incredible honor to be mentioned in one sentence with such legends.”
