NBA: The Mavericks are going to play Derek Harper’s act.

Great honour for Mavericks legend Derek Harper: Owner Mark Cuban has announced that he will wear the number 12 jersey of the 56th anniversary under the hall ceiling.

The ceremony is scheduled for 7. The Mavericks confirmed on their homepage that they will take part in the home game against the New York Knicks on 1 January. Harper will be the third player after Brad Davis (#15) and Rolando Blackman (#22) whose number the Texans will no longer assign.

“Like every Mavs fan in the world, we are very proud of Derek and everything he has done and continues to do for the franchise,”said owner Mark Cuban.

Harper played for Dallas for 12 years during his 16-year NBA career. From 872 games he started 620. On average he scored 14.4 points and 5.7 assists.

Of course, he can also be found in the franchise’s all-time rankings. At the points he ranks fourth (12,597), at the assists he ranks first (5,111) and at the Fiel Goals he ranks fourth (4,899). He is currently commenting on Mavericks games as a TV analyst.
