NHL: Defeats for German legionaries at the end of the year

Leon Draisaitl suffered the next setback with the Edmonton Oilers and lost 5-0 to the Winnipeg Jets.

Tom Kühnhackl lost Penguins 1:4 in the Detroit Red Wings with champion Pittsburgh. National goalkeeper Thomas Greiss (New York Islanders) and Tobias Rieder (Arizona Coyotes) also left the ice as losers.

For Draisaitl and the Oilers it was their third defeat in a row. With 37 points, Edmonton is now in third last place at the Western Conference and has a long way to go before the play-offs.

Tom Kühnhackl is also not on play-off course with the penguins. The Stanley Cup champion lost 4-1 at the Detroit Red Wings, striker Kühnhackl only had five minutes of ice age.

Goalie Thomas Greiss could not prevent his Islanders from losing 6-1 to Colorado Avalanche. The 31-year-old replaced Jaroslav Halák, who scored five goals after scoring just under 40 minutes. Greiss resisted twelve of the 13 shots and prevented a higher defeat. Defender Dennis Seidenberg was not in the New York squad.

Rieder and the Arizona Coyotes lost 2:5 to the Anaheim Ducks. The striker received 15 minutes of service time, while national team colleague Korbinian Holzer was not in the squad at Anaheim.
