Olympia 2018: Interest in tickets for Winter Olympics remains low

The interest in tickets for the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang remains limited.Just under four months before the start of the major event in South Korea (09.till 25.February) are brought only 30.3 per cent of the altogether 1.07 million tickets from the advance booking to the fan.This is reported by the newspaper The Korea Herold.

According to the Olympic organisers, around 70 percent of the tickets are to be purchased in the host country.However, only 20.7 percent of these have been sold so far.Of the 320,000 tickets offered abroad, 59.7 percent are sold.

A few weeks ago, the organising committee had admitted that they had missed out on marketing and promised to improve.One reason for the weak demand is still the military provocation by North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

Most recently, France and Austria had considered not to send their athletes to Pyeongchang if the security situation were to deteriorate.German athletes such as ski racer Felix Neureuther have also no longer ruled out the possibility of abandoning the games.

It seems to be even more difficult to get sports fans excited about the Paralympics afterwards.So far, only 4.2 percent of the tickets on offer have been sold.
