Boxing: Big gesture: Fury donates huge sum

After the heavyweight title fight against Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury has announced that it will donate all combat proceeds to charity.

In total, the eccentric Briton, who tortured himself to a draw against Wilder and had previously been knocked down twice, wants to donate seven million euros. Furys reason: “You can’t take money with you, so I might as well do something with it and help people who can’t help themselves.”

Immediately after the fight, the “Gipsy King” had announced that after his return to England he would “build a home for the homeless and provide funds for drug addicts and alcoholics”.

His stay in Los Angeles, the metropolis of millions, has once again strengthened the 30-year-old’s resolve. In the Daily Mail he said: “There are many homeless people on the streets, more than I have ever seen in my life. I’m in downtown LA, but if they walk down the street for five minutes, there’s – I don’t know – thousands of homeless people.”

The boxer is not as generous as his soon to be five children: “I believe that all children in life should earn their own money, because if they don’t, they won’t appreciate it. It’s easy to spend another person’s money and the money I’ve earned is practically blood. My children have to earn their own living and go their own way.”
