NFL-Rangliste: Meister macht Angst
Champion Kansas City is marching, Tom Brady is running with the Bucs, the Saints and Patriots are having problems: The SPORT1 power ranking to the NFL.
32nd NEW YORK JETS (balance 0-4)
Injuries and head coach Adam Gase make the Jets the worst team in the league. Because star Le’Veon Bell (thigh) is injured, the 37-year-old Frank Gore – and no younger talent – is starting on Running Back. Just one of the coach’s head-shaking decisions. The best receivers are also broken, like now the already disappointing quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder).
31. NEW YORK GIANTS (0-4)
New York earns the worst places in the power ranking in a double pack. The best player for the entire season is out with the bird of plague Saquon Barkley (torn cruciate ligament), and Sterling Shepard is also out with the best receiver.
Quarterback Daniel Jones (2 TD at 5 INT and 14 sacks in four games) still hasn’t got the hang of it in year two and is partly responsible for the worst offense in the league (11.8 points on average). (Schedule and results of the NFL 2020/21)
30. ATLANTA FALCONS (0-4)
Since their epic Super Bowl slump against the Patriots in 2017 (25 point lead gambled away), the Falcons have crashed badly and are now one of the league’s shooting galleries. This season alone, they gambled away leads of 20 (Cowboys) and 16 (Bears) points on their way to a 4-0 start, thanks in part to their almost non-existent defense (second worst in the league).
With superstar receiver Julio Jones (thigh), quarterback Matt Ryan is also missing the best starting point. A small glimmer of hope: The defeats so far came against the Seahawks, Cowboys, Bears, and Packers – now the game plan is getting kinder.
29. DENVER BRONCOS (1-3)
Top receiver Courtland Sutton (shoulder) got it early, with Drew Lock and Jeff Driskel the quarterbacks number 1 and 2 got injured – stage clear for Brett Rypien! The nephew of former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien (Washington Redskins) experienced a mixed game in week 4 (2 TD with 3 INT), but celebrated the victory – even if only against the Jets (37:28).
28. WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM (1-3)
The season start of the former Redskins with their mega comeback against the Eagles (27:17 after 0:17) already gave hope for a good season – but clapping against the Cardinals (15:30), Browns (20:34) and Ravens (17:31) followed.
In the defense, number 2 Pick Chase Young (groin) was lost with an injury, the young quarterback Dwyane Haskins (4 TD, 3 INT) still needs time.
27. MIAMI DOLPHINS (1-3)
Cult quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (as always) with light and shadow, four touchdowns on five interceptions. He only managed to win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Miami is not going anywhere this season, at some point Tua Tagovailoa should take over.
