On the ninth stage of the Tour de France (from 2 pm in the live ticker) the route to Roubaix leads over a total of 15 cobblestone sections. Here you can get all the important information about the section and find out where you can follow the stage live on TV and on the Internet.
The ninth stage of the Tour de France 2018 leads from Arras Citadelle to Roubaix. On the 156.6 kilometres there are only two sprint classifications and no mountain classifications, but the drivers have to drive over 15 sections with cobblestones, which together are about 21.7 kilometres long.
The stage should therefore be of particular interest for the overall standings, as the demanding track repeatedly leads to crashes and defects on the bicycles, which can cost valuable seconds.
The start of the stage is at 12.35 pm, the arrival at the destination should be between 4.10 pm and 4.30 pm.
After yesterday’s stage was interrupted by the World Cup match, ARD is showing today’s section in its usual length. The start can be seen from 12.25 on the sister station One, the ARD takes over from 13.30 o’clock.
Eurosport 1 doesn’t show the race completely either. Only about an hour before the end of the race, i.e. at 3.09 pm, does the station start broadcasting.
The sports show offers a free live stream of the stage on the Internet. Eurosport also shows the race on the internet, but you will need the Eurosport Player for a fee.
If you are not able to follow the stage on one of these routes, SPOX offers you a detailed live ticker of the stage.
There were no changes to the jerseys even after the last stage. Greg van Avermaet is still the wearer of the yellow jersey, but will probably not be able to hold it for long due to the upcoming mountain stages. The Green Jersey continues to be worn by the five-time winner of the points classification Peter Sagan. The fight for the dotted jersey only really starts when the difficult stages with the big mountain classifications await the drivers in the coming week.
The first eight stages so far have been dominated by the sprinters. Peter Sagan, Dylan Groenewegen and Fernando Gaviria each have two stage victories, with the latter winning in the last two stages.
However, all three will not be able to intervene in the overall standings. In the fight for the Yellow Jersey many favourites like Chris Froome, Nairo Qunitana and Richie Porte have already lost a lot of time due to defects and falls to the top.
As always, the 2018 Tour de France will consist of 21 stages, with two days off. More information about the stages can be found here.
