After it became known last week that the Philadelphia 76ers are apparently thinking about separating from Markelle Fultz, the Cleveland Cavaliers have now apparently expressed their interest. Meanwhile, the Point Guard will meet with other shoulder specialists during the week.
As Sam Amico reports on his website amicohoops.net, the Cavaliers have already talked to the Sixers Front Office about a possible deal for the 20-year-old.
Previously, rumors had it that Philadelphia were considering a No.1 pick trade from 2017. According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the franchise from the city of brotherly love is supposed to be interested in a first round pick or expiring contracts as a countervalue.
According to media reports, Fultz himself also seems to prefer a change of scenery after just over a year in Philadelphia.
Meanwhile, the Point Guard is currently undergoing further examinations on his right shoulder, which has obviously been causing him problems since his rookie season. As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has announced, Fultz will stay in New York until Wednesday to gather further opinions from specialists.
According to Woj sources, a decision on Fultz’s next steps will only be made towards the end of the week. However, the Sixers apparently assume that he will return to the team and take on a role as a banker again.
At the same time, according to Wojnarowski, Philly has made it clear to rival teams in recent weeks that they have no interest in a trade from T.J. McConnell. The franchise knows that it will be dependent on the 26-year-old Backup Point Guard in the near future, according to the well-connected ESPN journalist.
