According to media reports, Andre Iguodala was about to leave the Golden State Warriors in the summer. As a Free Agent, the 33-year-old almost signed a long-term contract with the Houston Rockets, but ultimately opted for the Warriors’ more lucrative offer.Iguodala had also met with Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings.

ESPN’s Chris Haynes reported that the wing player had rejected the original offer of the reigning NBA champion for three years and $42 million with only a partially guaranteed third contract year.
Although the Rockets could only offer their mid-level exception of 32 million dollars over four years to the former finals MVP after their trade for Point Guard Chris Paul, Iguodala is said to have been convinced of their overall package. The two-hour meeting with Houston’s GM Daryl Morey was “the best presentation of all time,” Haynes quotes a source from the player’s environment.
Iguodala then arranged a meeting with Warriors manager Bob Myers and coach Steve Kerr – supposedly to say goodbye to the Warriors. But Myers, who had previously contacted Rudy Gay (now with the San Antonio Spurs) as a possible alternative, made the forward a final offer.
Finally, both sides agreed on the three year guarantee contract originally demanded by Iguodala and 48 million dollars, the rockets were empty.
Since moving from the Denver Nuggets to the Bay Area in the summer of 2013, Iguodala has celebrated two championships with the Warriors and was voted finalist MVP in 2015.Last season he scored 7.6 points, 4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in an average of 26 minutes.
