Olympia 2016: OC boss Nuzman arrested on suspicion of corruption

Brazilian federal police arrested Carlos Arthur Nuzman, head of the Olympic Organizing Committee of Rio de Janeiro, on Thursday on suspicion of corruption.

The president of the National Olympic Committee is accused of money laundering and belonging to a criminal organization, as well as of buying votes for the 2016 Summer Games in the Brazilian metropolis.

In addition to IOC honorary member Nuzman, Leonardo Glyner, Director-General of the OC, was arrested early this morning.At the beginning of September, the federal police had carried out a major raid on the Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Evidence was seized in the house of Nuzman and at the Comitê Rio 2016 headquarters.About 70 officials were on duty a month ago to execute two arrest warrants and carry out a total of eleven house searches.
